Comstock Hill
Tombsone, Arizona • October 26, 2025

Comstock Hill is a little bump on the north end of Tombstone, notable for a T on its hillside. I had just hiked Peak 4849 "Mackenzie Ranch Peak" north of Benson and was on my way back to Bisbee. I stopped in to check out this little hill. It rises opposite the highway from Boot Hill

Getting close to it is easy with a simple road map handy. I drove in one scraggly dirt track, and parked in a small opening near where the summit track veers off. The hike up went fast, just five minutes. The top is kind of junky. I found the benchmark and a reference mark, some piles of rocks and some random trash. I also walked over to look at the T, viewing it from above.

The views into Tombstone are good. It's not very big so I could see pretty much the entire town. I hiked back down, gone a total of ten minutes.

This is not the highpoint of Tombstone. Some land on its southern city limits is about forty feet higher. I have no desire to go seek that spot out.
