Big "Duke" Sanders — many think of him as a lookalike for John Wayne — is a monster on skates. Frank is nearly 6-3 and weighs 230 pounds. Yet, he can lead rushes on an opposing goalie.
"Frank has the big, powerful stride that could make him just a sensational player," said Sonmor. "And he can murder people in the corners. I just hope none of the league's bad men try to throw punches at them. Without a doubt, he's the strongest player on our team, or on any team I've ever coached.
"I can remember watching him take on four people in a college game and whipping them all at the same time. And what he did to that big Russian defenseman Ragulin — it was terrible."
In the Olympics last year, the former University of Minnesota star was the Americans' third-leading scorer, including the two goals he fired in against the Russians.
