Popular choice to meet the Oilers coach ... Oilers who know him say his potential as a professional coach is unlimited ... Came out of the Canadian college ranks ... in 17 years behind the University of Alberta Golden Bears bench, he never missed the playoffs and won three Canadian titles ... Was preceded by Ray Kinasewich, Brian Shaw and Bill Hunter, who twice took over coaching duties late in the season and twice finished shy of the playoffs ... A student of the Russian style of hockey ... One thing is certain: he won't be orthodox by today's professional standards ... First priority is to improve the team's offensive punch, especially the power play, which ranked as the WHA's worst 1974-75.
