...Next season, of course, Phoenix takes up residence in the WHA, having been granted a franchise last October. How many Roadrunners will be retained in a major league capacity obviously isn't known, however, one whom Phoenix fans may refuse to see disconnected is all-star Howie Young. Known in the desert as The Cowboy, Young, who gained notoriety in the NHL with Detroit and Chicago, emerged the club's most popular player for the third straight season. Now 36, he switched from defense to right wing at mid-season and paced the Roadrunners with a career high 36 goals. |
