Tiny Mario Vien, a whippet-quick lefthander, has bumped 41-year-old Les Binkley out of the Toronto Toros' lineup. Vien won the hearts of crowds in Sweden and Finland in exhibition games with a brilliant display of goaltending, spiced by his own flair for show biz. Vien's play salvaged some dignity for the Toros, who were otherwise widely criticized for their penchant for fighting and turning games into small riots. Only 20 and 5-7 and 160 pounds after dinner, Vien will share goaltending duties with a registered pharmacist, Jim (Drugstore) Shaw. |
