Ed Dyck, 23-year-old goaltender of the Vancouver Canucks of the National League, owns the distinction today of being the first player even signed for the new Indianapolis WHA entry. His signing, calling for a three-year contract, was announced April 9. "It's nice to be the first guy signed by your team." said Dyck. "We'll be playing in a great building. It holds 17,000 and I'll be doing all I can to help fill it." John D. Weissert, president of Indiana Professional Sports, Inc., said the Racers are proud to have acquired Dyck's services. "Dyck has great potential and desire," said Weissert. "We will now seek out defensemen with the necessary skills to help him. You can't win consistently in the majors without a solid lineup back of the blueline. We expect to announce other signings before the May 30 expansion draft." |
