Hoss Celebrates his 200,000th!
December 25, 2011

My truck celebrated its 200,000th mile on December 25th, 2011. It occurred as Beth and I were driving to Anza-Borrego for our Christmas-Bethmas celebration. The happy moment was along Maricopa Road and Casa Blanca Road, about 20 miles southeast of Chandler on the way to Maricopa. Please note: these are miles, not weenie kilometers. I think 200,000 miles is something like a million kilometers. 200,000 miles is about 8 times around the world, and most of the way to the moon.

It's held up well. A timing belt in 2008, brakes, the usual. Even on this trip I lost a tension bolt hitting a bump too fast, but we got that fixed. Beth has made the passenger seat her "vacation home". I sleep in the back. It's like a home away from home.

I bought the truck in February 2001, brand new. It's been on rescues, up all sorts of peaks, valleys, mudpits, you name it. The tranny is still solid. The AC has been on the fritz for a number of years and I haven't had it at all for two years now. Yes, you can get used to no AC in the Phoenix summer. I've done it twice now.
