This easily reached parish highpoint is located a few hundred yards west of Louisiana state highway LA-147 about three-quarters of a mile north of its junction with LA-797, in the southwest portion of Lincoln Parish a few miles south of the town of Oak Grove. Beth and I came up to this area after having visited the Winn Parish highpoint about an hour earlier. We drove north through the towns of Jonesboro ("Jo-bro") and Hodge, catching highway 147 in the process and passing by a paper/cardboard manufacturing plant that absolutely stinks to high heaven.

After passing the LA-797 turnoff we proceeded north to the little dirt road on the west side of the highway where we could actually see the hillock knob off in the near distance. The area had been logged sometime recently, hence the open views. We drove in a tiny bit and parked in a clearing, then walked up the road to the highest area, located just off the road a bit. Mud made for slow going and we stepped carefully. The immediate area was pretty grim to look at, but views off over the countryside were rather nice, this hill having some decent prominence by Louisiana standards. We didn't stay long and returned to our truck. From here we got onto route LA-797, which led us to the state highpoint at Driskill Mountain, just a ten-minute drive to the south.
