After completing Sherman County about 20 miles to the south, I retraced my path through Kanorado, heading north via County Road 3 and some other roads, eventually working my way to the northwest corner of Sherman County near the intersection of County Roads 2 and 80 (or possibly 88; my handwriting was pretty sloppy). In any case, the latter of the two roads lies right on the Sherman-Cheyenne county line. Turning left onto CR-80, I went west to a rise and the highpoint. Cheyenne County is just to the north. No hiking needed. Disinterested cattle watched me as I stepped here and there for about 20 seconds.

Getting these last two Kansas Counties gives me the highest 5 Kansas Counties by elevation. Whereas close to 1,000 people have summitted Everest, maybe less than 10 people have visited these "high five" points of Kansas. I was momentarily rendered dumbstruck by the sheer studness of this feat. Once back to reality, I headed north into Nebraska for some honest-to-gosh hiking in the Sand Hills. It was now about 9 a.m. Next up: Dundy County, Nebraska.
