I really have not spent a lot of time in Colorado. I hiked its state highpoint, Mount Elbert, back in 1995. That was all until I came through twice in 2002, first over Memorial Day weekend, and again in September for the State Highpointer's Convention. On those trips I mainly picked off some Plains county highpoints, and a couple of pretty big peaks in the middle of the state. In 2004, I made two more visits, in March and in May. The March visit was for fun as well as some job explorations, following up on some leads that never panned out. Beth was with me on that trip. In May, I hit a couple more on the fringe as part of a bigger "High Plains" highpointing journey, but ended that trip with a pretty good peak, Thunder Butte in Douglas County. That's been it since 2004. I would love to go back. I guess my attentions are more drawn to the desert peaks in the southwest.
